A day of excitement at Epic Public School, Cooch Behar, as football star Manoj Mohammed from Hyderabad FC visits students.
It was a day full of joy and excitement at Epic Public School, Cooch Behar. Smiling faces of students filled the campus as they waited eagerly for a special guest—Manoj Mohammed, a football star from Hyderabad FC.
Manoj’s journey in football began at the East Bengal Football Club youth academy. In 2010, he joined the North Bengal branch of the academy in Rajganj, Jalpaiguri. Later, Ranjan Chowdhury, the Technical Director of East Bengal academy in Kolkata, moved him to the main academy in Kolkata.
Manoj rose through the ranks and became the captain of East Bengal’s U18 team. He played as a centre-back and was part of the squad that reached the final of the 2016–17 I-League U18, narrowly missing the trophy.
In 2018, coach Alejandro Menéndez selected him for the senior team of East Bengal. The coach changed his position from centre-back to left-back, and Manoj made his professional debut on 27 October 2018 against NEROCA FC.
Manoj shared his thoughts on social media regarding his visit. He wrote:
“I had a wonderful time with Biswajit Jha dada at Cooch Behar. I was fascinated to see his school—Epic Public School—and his free school and football academy at Mendabari. I interacted with students and budding footballers. I always consider Biswajit da as my mentor and well-wisher. I wish him all the best for his selfless work. We also spent a great time with Zico, Biswajit da’s son, who is a budding footballer and big football fan. Thank you Boudi for the warm hospitality.”
Speaking to Epic Words, Biswajit Jha, the director of Epic Public School, said:
“We always encourage our students to take part in sports along with their studies. It is important for a child’s overall development. I thank Manoj Mohammed for taking the time to visit our school and inspire our students.”
Dr Sanjuka Saha, our principal also praised the event and said:
“Our students were thrilled to meet Manoj Mohammed. At our school, we focus on all-round development, and sports play a big role in that.”
The visit by Manoj Mohammed was not only a special moment for the students but also an inspiration. It reminded everyone that with hard work and guidance, dreams can come true.
