Read this inspiring story by Dhriya Das, Class 5, Epic Public School, about Nisha Chaudhury, a determined young girl who overcomes failure and self-doubt to become a champion cyclist in New Zealand. A heartwarming tale of perseverance and the power of never giving up!
Hello, my fellow readers! It is a pleasure to speak to you again. If you all remember, I was the one who shared the story ‘Hastle’s Family’, which was a heart-warming story about my friend, Jack. So, today I am here to narrate a story about my cousin, Nisha. Ah! I completely forgot to tell you people my name! I am Dhriya, Dhriya Das. Well, now let’s get back to the story.
Once, there was a little girl of five, she was named Nisha Chaudhury by her parents, and if you guessed you guessed it right she is my cousin.
Nisha had a bicycle and she rode her bicycle every day. One day her father took off the balancers of her cycle. After that when Nisha tried to ride her bicycle she fell down many times and got hurt. She told her father that she would never ride her bicycle and she also informed him that she wanted to start skating.
The next day her father gave her a pair of Skating shoes. But when she tried to skate, she fell down seven times and refused to go skating any further. She went to her father and informed him that now she would start skating on a skateboard.
The next day her father gave her a skateboard. She attempted and tried skateboarding but kept falling down again and again. She got hurt and decided not to skateboard anymore.
After that, she joined the dance club but the way her teacher was instructing she could not understand and finally was scolded by her teacher.
Again she went to her father and said, “I am sorry Dad I want to leave the dance club as I can’t do anything. I don’t have any talent”.
After a few days, she joined singing lessons. Her voice was so loud and annoying that everyone mocked her and she refused to do that as well.
She joined karate classes but she can’t do her karate in a powerful way. So, again she got scolded.
One day she was sitting on the sofa and crying and suddenly her mother came and asked her “What happened beta?”
She said crying. “Mom I don’t have any talent that is why I can’t do anything and get scolded I fall down and get hurt”.
Her mom said, “This happens because you lose your hope you should never lose your hope and you should try instead. If you try you can do anything you want to do”.
She thought for some time and felt that her mother was right. She went to her father running and said “Daddy! Daddy! I want to ride my bicycle and try to learn it”.
Her father was shocked and said happily “Oh really I am so happy that you understand that we should try something before we want to achieve anything”.
She replied, “Okay Dad let’s go”.
After that, she tried and worked hard to achieve her goals. Her father told her to participate in various races of the cycling. She listened to her father and participated in races.
In the beginning she secured third position then second and at last after very hard work she finally secured first position and no one could beat her. She became the first female bicycle rider to get first prizes in New Zealand. She realised what her mother said that day. She thanked her mother for making her understand that we should never lose hope instead we should try. Well, Nisha’s parents have always encouraged her, but in the ancient days, girls or women had no freedom. They remained unpermitted to the right of education. They were treated as un-equals and all the females of the country were used as servants.
No one loved or encouraged them. They were not allowed to do anything to their wish.
But nowadays women have their own freedom. Now Nisha is a well-known bicycler in New Zealand.
If men can rule, then why can’t women?
