Hello dear students!
Have you ever wondered how astronauts live in space? I will show you, but before that let’s travel through time and discover some amazing events linked to 16th June!
👑 The Rise of the Last Persian King
Many of you might have played the game “Prince of Persia” on your computer or phone. But did you know that Persia is actually a real place? Today, it is called Iran. And on 16th June 632 CE, a new era began in Persia when Yazdegerd III became the king. He was the last ruler of the powerful Sasanian Empire. This important day marks the start of the Persian (Yazdegerd) Era, and many believe it also began the Zoroastrian calendar.

⚔️ Bravery at the Battle of Morar
Moving ahead in time, we reach India’s freedom struggle. You have already learnt about the Sepoy Mutiny — our country’s first major fight against the British. On 16th June 1858, the Battle of Morar took place in present-day Madhya Pradesh. The fearless Indian rebels were led by Rani Lakshmibai and Tatya Tope, while the British forces were commanded by General Hugh Rose. Despite fighting with great courage, the rebels could not win this battle.

💻 The Birth of a Tech Giant – IBM
Now, let’s switch on our computer minds! On 16th June 1911, a company named Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (CTR) was formed in the USA. This company grew, changed, and became what we know today as IBM (International Business Machines) — one of the world’s biggest and best-known computer companies.

🚀 Valentina Tereshkova – The First Woman in Space!
Time to wear our space helmets! On 16th June 1963, the Soviet Union sent Vostok 6 into space with Valentina Tereshkova on board. She became the first woman ever to travel to space — a giant leap for womankind!

🌟 Sunita Williams Breaks Space Records
More space news! On 16th June 2007, astronaut Sunita Williams, who has Indian roots, became the longest-serving woman in space at that time. She spent many days living and working on the International Space Station — what an inspiring role model!
