Dear Students,
Welcome to another exciting journey through time and nature! Today is the 26th of May, and guess what? It’s International Plastic Free Day! A day when Earth gives us a gentle nudge and says, “Hey, please take care of me!”
🚫 Say NO to Plastic – Be an Earth Hero!
Did you know that plastic waste is one of the biggest problems our planet faces today? From the holy Ganga to the sunny beaches of Chennai, plastic bottles, straws, and bags are scattered everywhere like an unwanted party afterthought!
Even animals — like cows, birds, and fish — sometimes mistake plastic for food. Eating it makes them very sick. Can you imagine munching on a plastic bag instead of a samosa? Yuck!
But don’t worry — you can be a superhero for the Earth!
🦸♀️ Carry a steel water bottle instead of plastic.
🦸♂️ Use a cloth bag when you go shopping.
🦸 And always, always throw waste in the bin — not on the road, river or beach!

Now, put on your seat belts as we jump into our time-traveling tuk-tuk and zoom back into history!
🗿 25th of May, Year 553 – The Mayan Majesty
On this day, a mighty ruler named Moon Jaguar became the 10th king of Copán, a city of the ancient Maya civilization in what is now Honduras. The Mayans were known for their fantastic temples, star-gazing skills, and giant stone carvings.
Just like the Mayans had Copán, India had its very own ancient wonder: the Indus Valley Civilization (3300 BCE to 1300 BCE)! That’s where the city of Mohenjo-Daro comes from — sounds like the title of a Bollywood movie, doesn’t it?

🏔️ 26th of May, 1805 – Rocky Mountain High
On this day, two adventurous explorers — Lewis and Clark — first laid eyes on the Rocky Mountains, the tallest and longest mountain range in North America.
India too has amazing mountains! Let’s do a quick quiz:
Can you name a few?
📍 The Himalayas (home to Mount Everest!)
📍 The Aravalli Range
📍 Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats
📍 Satpura and Vindhya Ranges
So the next time you’re near a hill, give it a little salute — mountains have seen the world change for thousands of years!

👑 Napoleon – The King of Italy
Now, fasten your history seatbelts!
On the 26th of May 1805, the famous French leader Napoleon Bonaparte was crowned the King of Italy. He was known for his sharp mind, powerful speeches, and… well, his rather short height! But trust us, his dreams were anything but small!

🐾 From the Jungle to Real Life – Mowgli’s Secret
Now here’s something straight from the wild! You’ve all heard of Mowgli, the brave jungle boy from The Jungle Book. But did you know he was inspired by a real story?

Meet Dina Sanichar, a boy found in 1867 in Uttar Pradesh, who was raised by wolves! Yes, real wolves — not the talking kind like Baloo and Bagheera. Dina couldn’t speak and behaved like an animal. His story made people believe in the possibility of feral children — human kids who has been raised without any contact to civilization!
And there’s more! On the 26th of May 1828, a strange boy named Kaspar Hauser was found in Nuremberg, Germany, with no memory of where he came from. People believed he, too, had grown up away from civilisation.
