📚 Dear Students,
Today is 30th May – the 150th day of the year! Let’s take a fun ride through history to see what amazing things happened on this day in the past. 🌍🕰️
🇮🇳 Goa and Cooch Behar – Did You Know?
In 1510, a Portuguese commander named Afonso de Albuquerque had to leave Goa after a local king, Yusuf Adil Shah, took the city back. Goa later became a part of India only in 1961, which isn’t that long ago!
And here’s another one: Cooch Behar, a princely state, joined India on 12th September 1949. It became a district of West Bengal in 1950. Imagine—parts of India joining in like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle!

🎓 Universities Then and Now
On this day in 1527, the University of Marburg was founded in Germany. But India was way ahead in ancient times! The famous Nalanda University was started way back in 427 BCE—that’s more than 2,000 years ago! The first modern Indian university, the University of Calcutta, was founded in 1857.

🚒 Rubber Fire Hoses to the Rescue!
In 1821, a man named James Boyd invented the rubber fire hose. Before that, hoses were made of leather and cloth—how funny would that be in a water fight! 💦

🚗 Oops! The First Car Accident
Did you know the first recorded motor accident happened on 30th May 1896 when Henry Wells accidentally hit a cyclist in New York City? Cars had just been invented in 1886 by Karl Benz—yep, the Benz from Mercedes-Benz!

✈️ Up, Up and Away!
We all love airplanes, but who was the first passenger? A brave man named Ernest Archdeacon flew in 1908 with a pilot named Henry Farman in Belgium. The flight was short but made history!
And speaking of flights, watch how flying looked in the 1950s—it was fancy! 🎩🍽️ 👉
🖊️ Tagore’s Brave Act
On 30th May 1919, Rabindranath Tagore gave up his British title of “Sir” to protest the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, where many innocent Indians lost their lives. This was his way of saying, “This is not okay.”

😄 Peek-a-Boo Glass!
On 29th May 1933, a patent was given for invisible glass. Imagine walking into a glass door because you didn’t see it! Happens more than you think. 🤭

♟️ Checkmate, History!
Are you a chess lover? Then celebrate! On 30th May 2012, Viswanathan Anand won his 5th World Chess Championship. Chess actually began in India in the 6th century and was called Chaturanga!
📰 Extra! Extra! Read All About It!
India’s first Hindi newspaper, Udant Martand, was published on this day in 1826 in Calcutta. But the very first newspaper in India was The Bengal Gazette in 1780, started by James Augustus Hicky. It was quite the read back then!

So you see, dear students, every day has a story to tell—and 30th May is packed with amazing moments! Keep learning, keep wondering, and who knows—maybe one day, something you do will be remembered in history too!
With curiosity and cheer,
