Chirag Ghosh shares a story of two brothers, Ganny and Antony, as they learn the true meaning of humility, love, and forgiveness.
Once upon a time, there was a kingdom where the king had two sons. The elder son’s name was Antony, and the younger was Gantony, who was also called Ganny.
One day, the king realised that he was getting older and began to wonder who would lead the kingdom after him. He called his sons and asked them who wished to take on the responsibility in his absence.
His elder son, Antony, was a greedy man and also a liar. He said,
“Your Majesty, I can lead the kingdom properly after you.”
The younger son, who was very innocent, remained quiet, listening to his elder brother.
The king turned to Gantony and asked, “Do you not have anything to say?”
Gantony replied, “My lord, you are my father, and I will obey your wish—whatever it may be.”
Some days later, the king noticed Ganny helping poor people, while Antony was seen arguing with others and chasing them away. The king smiled quietly.
A few months later, the king passed away. The decision of choosing the new king was left to the people of the kingdom. The people already knew who was truly fit to be their ruler, and they soon chose Gantony as their new king.
When Ganny was crowned, Antony was quite upset. Noticing this, Ganny went to his brother and said,
“The way you treat others, they will treat you the same. If you do something bad, don’t expect anything good in return.”
Then he held his brother’s hand and added, “I know you’re upset. I’m offering you some land in the kingdom. You can start again.”
Antony was touched. To Ganny’s surprise, he said,
“No, my brother. I have realised my mistake. I am a changed man now. I don’t want to be a king. Instead, may I have the role of a minister in your court?”
Ganny was happy with his brother’s gesture and made Antony a minister.
