Now, here are some interesting events that happened on 9th May over the years:
1) 1386 – The Treaty of Windsor was signed between Portugal and England. This is the world’s oldest diplomatic alliance that is still in force!

2) 1502 – Christopher Columbus began his fourth and final voyage from Cádiz, Spain. He was looking for a new sea route, but instead discovered new lands.

3) 1594 – William Shakespeare’s second poem, Lucrece, was published in London. He is still one of the world’s greatest writers!

4) 1671 – A man named Colonel Thomas Blood tried to steal the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London. He was caught running away with them!

5) 1788 – The British Parliament accepted the abolition of the slave trade, an important step in human rights history.

6) 1874 – The first horse-drawn bus started running in Mumbai. It had two routes and was the beginning of a new era.

7) 1904 – The steam locomotive City of Truro became the first engine to run faster than 100 miles per hour!

8) 1922 – The International Astronomical Union adopted Annie Jump Cannon’s system to classify stars. It is still used in science today!

9) 1944 – The world’s first eye bank opened in New York City. This helped people with vision problems get new hope.

10) Peter Pan Day – 9th May is also celebrated as Peter Pan Day, remembering the magical character created by J.M. Barrie. Peter Pan is the boy who never grows up and lives in the fantasy world of Neverland with fairies, pirates, and mermaids.

Besides these, today is also the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap, the great Rajput ruler, Jahandar Shah the Mughal ruler.
