‘The Shakespeare Club’ of Epic Public School shares how even the most ordinary days contribute to our personal history. In this reflective piece, they narrate a day that began with routine but became memorable through unexpected moments.
When we hear the word “history,” our minds often wander to events like Sepoy revolution or personalities like Subash Chandra Bose or may be grand events like Independence Day or Republic Day, days that mark significant moments in time. But what if we paused to think about history differently? Every single moment in our lives, whether it seems significant or mundane, becomes part of our personal history. Today, I want to share with you the story of my yesterday, an ordinary day that, like all others, is now etched into my history.
The day began like any other. I woke up, completed my morning routine, and headed off to school, boarding the usual bus. Everything seemed fine until we reached a place called Khagrabari. There, we were caught in a chaotic traffic jam. The bus inched forward slowly and steadily, but the noise outside was unbearable. The blaring of horns and the rumble of engines irritated my ears so much that I had to shut the window and hold my ears tight, trying to block out the clamor.
Finally, we reached school, where the day took an unexpected turn. As I walked into class, we were greeted with the news of a surprise test. I wasn’t expecting it, but somehow, I managed to do quite well, scoring fantastic marks. There’s always a certain satisfaction that comes with doing well on a test, especially one you didn’t prepare for.
After the test, it was recess time, and we all rushed out to the playground. That’s when we stumbled upon a cute little kitten. My friends and I couldn’t resist playing with it, and in no time, we were all laughing, quarrelling over who got to play with the kitten next. It was one of those playful moments that, though fleeting, left us all in high spirits.
As the school day ended, I headed home, feeling proud of my test results. My mother was thrilled when she saw my test paper. Her face lit up with joy, and she encouraged me with a warm “Keep it up!” She was so happy that we decided to celebrate by going to the movies in the evening. It was a lovely way to wrap up the day—an unexpected treat for an otherwise ordinary day.
Finally, the day ended as night fell, and I climbed into bed, reflecting on the events that had just unfolded. From the noisy traffic jam at Khagrabari to the surprise test and playful moments with the kitten, each moment had woven itself into the fabric of my personal history.
That was the history of my yesterday. It may not have been a day that changed the world, but it was a day that became part of my story, a piece of my life’s history that I’ll carry with me forever.
Isn’t that the beauty of life? Every day, every moment, big or small, becomes history. And while some days may feel more significant than others, every one of them matters because they shape who we are. So, here’s to the history of yesterday and the many more moments waiting to be made!
