Discover how Poetry is encouraged at Epic Public School and the celebration of Poets’ Day 2026. Hosted by the Literary Club, students beautifully recited timeless multilingual poems.

21st August 2026, The Poets’ Day was celebrated at Epic Public School. The Literary Club of the School organised and hosted the program. The students participated in the program and recited timeless poems which made the program a successful one.
As Rita Dove had said, “Poetry is language at its most distilled and most powerful.”, it highlights how words put together form, poetry can touch and capture human hearts. This day is mainly celebrated to honour those poets who touched hearts, showed people their path in their tough times, and explained philosophies of life which helped their readers throughout their lifetime.
Whether it is a sonnet, a Japanese Haiku, an epic, a blank verse, a limerick, or just a free verse, poetry has its own beauty in every form. Its variety has made it such a diverse form of art and creativity. Poetry can convey complex ideas simply by its rhythm and words. It affects people in such a way that those poems learnt in the nursery classes live in their hearts forever. Such poems were written by Shakespeare, Robert Frost, William Wordsworth, Maya Angelou and Tagore, along with many other excellent poets.
Poems by these renowned poets were recited by the students of Epic. They recited beautifully, not only in English, but also in Bengali and Hindi. Their words echoed through the school auditorium that day and seeing this, the principal of the school, Dr. Sanjukta Saha had said, “I was amazed to see such young kids recite such beautiful poems on stage. The beauty of recitation cannot be understood by merely reading a poem. I expect to see more students participate in the program in the following year.”
The light of poetry was ignited in students that day, and encouraged many future Shakespeares and Frosts for a brighter future.
