Dear Students,
Get ready for an amazing adventure through history, all happening on 10th June! We’re going to zoom across continents and centuries, discovering tales of brave kings, clever inventions, and even some very curious animals!
Once Upon a Time in Delhi…
Imagine a land that was mostly empty, just waiting for someone to build something grand. That’s exactly what King Anangpal Tomar did in 1052! He looked at this land and decided to make it a kingdom. Can you guess which famous city grew from his dream? That’s right – Delhi! And guess what? On 10th June, 1246, a new ruler named Nasiruddin Muhammad Shah took the throne of this magnificent city. So, next time you think of Delhi, remember its incredible beginning!

A King Who Loved a Good Story (Too Much!)
Now, for a funny story from 10th June, 1605! There was a man named False Dimitri I. His real name was Grigory Otrepyev, and he was quite a trickster! He managed to convince everyone in Russia that he was the son of a famous king, Ivan IV, even though Ivan’s real son had passed away a long time ago. Can you believe it? He actually became the ruler! But, as always, the truth has a way of coming out, and eventually, he was found out and lost his throne. It just goes to show you, honesty is always the best policy!

No More Witches!
Have you ever heard stories about witches? For a very long time, people believed in magic and witchcraft, and sometimes, sadly, innocent people were hurt because of these beliefs. One of the saddest stories happened on 10th June, 1692, when a woman named Bridget Bishop was unfairly accused and punished in Massachusetts. But guess what? Science has taught us so much, and we now know that witchcraft isn’t real. In India, there’s even a special law, passed in 2022, to stop such cruel activities. It’s called ‘The Prevention and Prohibition of Witch-Branding and Witch-Hunting and Other Harmful Practice Bill.‘ Isn’t it wonderful how we learn and make the world a safer place?

Benjamin Franklin’s Super Kite!
Have you ever wondered how tall buildings stay safe during a thunderstorm? It’s thanks to something called a lightning conductor! And on 10th June, 1752, a super-smart inventor named Benjamin Franklin proved how it worked. He famously flew a kite in a thunderstorm – don’t try this at home! – and showed how lightning could be safely directed away from buildings. What a brilliant idea!

Welcome to the Zoo!
Who loves visiting the zoo? Roaring lions, playful monkeys, graceful giraffes – zoos are amazing! But did you know that the very first public zoo opened its doors on 10th June, 1793, in Paris, France? It was called the Jardin des Plantes, and it was a botanical garden and a natural history museum too! Imagine seeing all those incredible animals for the first time! This event even inspired other countries to open their own zoos.

Thinking Outside the Box (and the Earth!)
Now, for a moment of super-smart thinking! On 10th June, 1854, a German mathematician named Bernhard Riemann gave a lecture that changed how we think about space. He suggested that space isn’t always flat, like a piece of paper, but that it could be curved! This might sound a bit mind-boggling, but his ideas helped scientists understand the universe in amazing new ways.

Remembering Distomo
History isn’t always happy. On 10th June, 1944, during World War II, a terrible event happened in a place called Distomo, in Greece. Many innocent people, including men, women, and children, lost their lives. Remembering sad parts of history helps us to understand the importance of peace and kindness, and to always work towards a world where everyone is safe and happy.

Isn’t it incredible how much has happened on just one day throughout history? From the founding of a great city to scientific breakthroughs and important lessons, June 10th is a day packed with stories! Keep exploring, keep learning, and who knows what amazing things you’ll discover next!
