Inspired by a Google game called Champions Island, Indrava Bhattacharjee of Class V, Epic Public schools, shares a story of Lucky where he takes on thrilling challenges in seven exciting sports to prove he’s a true champion.
Once upon a time, there was a cat named Lucky. One day, he visited an island called Champions Island. There were a total of seven games. The names of the games were rugby, table tennis, skateboarding, swimming, archery, mountain climbing, and running.
If anyone won any of these games, he or she would become the champion of that sport and receive a Champion’s Certificate.
When Lucky entered the island, there were two guards protecting it. Both of them stopped Lucky and told him, “This island is for champions, not for beginners!”
Lucky replied, “No, I am a champion.”
The guards said, “Then prove it. Show us you’re a champion, not a beginner.”
One of the guards then challenged Lucky to play table tennis. After a minute, the game began. Sadly, Lucky lost, but he played with such strength and spirit that he impressed the guards. They allowed him to enter Champions Island.
Inside, there were four team bosses standing at the centre of the island. After watching Lucky’s match, all four bosses were eager to take him onto their teams. The teams were:
- Red Team led by Vulture
- Blue Team led by Big Bull
- Yellow Team led by Taal Tortoise
- Green Team led by Giant Kappa
Lucky was confused. He didn’t know which team to choose. But when he checked the team stats, he saw that the Green Team had no champions and zero points. So, he decided to join the Green Team, led by Kappa.
Kappa was thrilled and gave Lucky a warm welcome.
Lucky then began his journey to the north, where he had to climb a mountain. When he finally reached the top, an owl challenged him in mountain climbing. In this game, one had to hang using their hands and climb to the peak. Lucky, being quick and agile, made it to the top with ease.
The owl proudly handed him the certificate and vanished into thin air.
Next, Lucky journeyed to the north-east. There, he met a person who looked like a giant monster but was actually kind-hearted and honest. He challenged Lucky in archery—Lucky’s favourite hobby.
The rule was simple: whoever scored more points than the master would win. Lucky accepted the challenge and played seriously. He scored more points than the archery master, and after a few minutes, emerged victorious. He was now the champion of two games! The master happily gave him the certificate.
Then Lucky headed north-west, where the game was rugby. Two monsters, Oni and Onix, guarded the game. They could clone themselves to trap players. The rule was to carry the ball across a 100-metre line. Lucky’s team had four other players.
They played excellently, dodged the clones, and made Oni and Onix tired. Lucky said goodbye to his teammates and took his certificate, now the champion of rugby.
Next, he travelled to the south-west, where the sport was running. There were five runners, including Lucky. The track was zig-zag, and animals kept crossing the path. Lucky ran swiftly, dodging the animals, and won the race. He received the certificate and became the running champion.
Then he moved on to the south-east, where the game was skateboarding. The goal was to score 10,000 points by performing different stunts. Lucky accepted the challenge and started doing tricks. After five minutes, he checked his score—it was 20,119!
He was in shock. He couldn’t believe what he had achieved. Silently, he took the certificate and walked away, still stunned.
He then travelled to the west, where he faced the Table Tennis Master again—this time, a giant who used a fan to play! Sometimes, when he was angry, he even created tornadoes with it.
But Lucky beat him easily, scoring 300 points. He took the certificate and became the table tennis champion.
Lastly, Lucky travelled to the east, where the final game—swimming—awaited. He tried to beat the swimming master but failed on the first try. He kept trying. After 130 attempts, he finally defeated her.
This was the final game of Champions Island. Everyone was thrilled—no one had ever completed all the games before!
Lucky had set a new record: the most Champion Certificates ever earned by a single player—and by a single team. His teammates and boss were overjoyed. The Green Team went from zero to first place, with a lead of 2 lakh points.
Lucky said goodbye to his team, the former masters, and the island itself. He returned home with all his certificates, keeping them as proud signs that he had once gone to Champions Island—and had become the champion of all the games.
