Prerona Karmakar, a student of Class 8 and the School Captain (Girls), shares this report on the celebration of World Music Day at Epic Public School.
Music did not fade away at Epic Public School on World Music Day. It was the 21st of June, a Saturday, usually a day of relaxation — all the more so because it was the summer holiday. Yet on this day, the spirit of music was alive in all of us.
Our school authorities organised a virtual celebration in which many students participated.
‘Fête de la Musique’ or Music Day originated in France in 1982 to honour the universal language of music. Since then, World Music Day has been celebrated in more than 120 countries.
At Epic, as the virtual celebration was organised, many students from various grades participated and shared videos showcasing their talents in singing and playing musical instruments.
It was a blend of Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, and even some catchy Bollywood songs. They also played instruments such as the keyboard, ukulele, guitar, and harmonium.
From classical tunes to folk songs, the variety of performances highlighted the diverse musical talents nurtured within the Epic family.
“No matter where we are, music has the power to connect us. Even though we were apart, we created something beautiful together,” remarked the organising teachers.
Epic Public School’s virtual Music Day celebration was a harmonious reminder that creativity knows no boundaries — it was a heartfelt celebration of harmony, passion, and togetherness, even on the quietest summer days.
