In this episode of Director Speaks, we share a letter from our Director, Biswajit Jha, highlighting the school’s recent CBSE affiliation, innovative learning methods, and the vital role guardians play in shaping both academic success and compassionate human beings.
To all my esteemed guardians,
I trust this letter finds you well and in good health. After penning two letters to my students, I felt it was high time I addressed all of you, for you are an integral part of our Epic Family. Without your unwavering support and well wishes, Epic Public School would not be where it stands today. And without your continued engagement, we can’t possibly achieve our ultimate goals—becoming one of the finest schools in India, producing not only meritorious individuals but also compassionate human beings who can change society for the better.
By now, I’m sure you’re well aware that Epic Public School has been granted CBSE affiliation. For that, I must extend a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to each of you for standing by us over the last eight years.
The CBSE team, which conducted an inspection on the 16th of July 2014, showered us with praise. Not only did they commend our state-of-the-art infrastructure and solid academic foundation, but they were also quite taken with some of the innovative ideas we’ve implemented for our students. They were particularly impressed by our hands-on, practical approach to learning, which is becoming increasingly rare nowadays. They applauded our real-life organic farming initiative and were pleasantly surprised by how actively our students are involved in the Innovation Lab, coming up with creative projects.
Another initiative that piqued their interest was Epic Words (www.epicwords.in), a web magazine run entirely by our students and teachers. They admitted that this project is quite unique, and Epic Public School may well be the only school in India to have something of this nature. Our efforts in nurturing creative minds were heartily appreciated.
Our decision to introduce a compulsory ‘Fruit Break’ and ban junk food for the well-being of our students also garnered much admiration. When I explained how this has positively impacted the overall health of our children, they remarked that every school should take a leaf out of Epic Public School’s book.
Moreover, our focus on shaping students into true human beings was singled out for praise. The inspectors were especially impressed by our emphasis on developing empathy and compassion among the children. Upon learning that our high school students save their pocket money to support our tribal village free school project in Mendabari, they commented that such training is exactly what today’s generation—growing increasingly self-centred—needs. We also shared details about our deep meditation classes, our empathy gym, and the activities conducted by our Compassion Club, all of which were met with great admiration.
Dear guardians, You can only imagine the happiness and sense of fulfilment Principal Ma’am and I are feeling now that, within just a month of the inspection, we’ve received our CBSE affiliation number. It gives us immense joy to see the hard work of our students, teachers, and staff finally bearing fruit.
As our students grow (our first batch is now in Class 8, soon to move into Class 9), I realise that the real journey lies ahead. Our challenge is not just to guide them toward professional success but to shape them into decent human beings. And on this challenging journey, I will need your help more than ever. Without your active participation and support, we cannot fully shape their futures. As parents and teachers, we share the same goal—to see our children flourish, not just for themselves but for society and the nation as well.
Jai Hind,
Biswajit Jha
