A heartwarming children’s story by Anupam Mandal about Raju and Mina learning the value of sharing, kindness, and caring for others while discovering why the mango is called the King of Fruits.
One sunny morning, Raju and his sister Mina were walking in their garden.
Raju pointed at a tree and asked, “What’s that on the tree?”
“That’s a little mango” Mina replied.
The mango was small, but it would taste great when it became ripe.
“Oh ho!” said Raju. “Only a few mangoes are left on the tree. Why are there so few?”
“Because there was a strong storm last night” Mina explained.
The storm was very powerful. It shook the trees and damaged many things around the garden. During the storm, most of the mangoes fell to the ground.
“So, there are more mangoes on the ground!” Raju said happily. “Yay! We can eat them!”
“No, no, no!” Mina stopped him. “Those mangoes are rotten.”
“How did they rot?” asked Raju.
“They have been lying in the mud. The mud contains many germs that can be be harmful to our health” Mina answered.
Raju nodded and looked at the mango tree again.
Then Mina smiled and said, “Do you know who is called the King of Fruits?”
“The mango!” Raju replied excitedly.
“That’s right” said Mina. “But we should share the mangoes that are still on the tree with other children. The happiness we get from sharing is even sweeter than a mango.”
Raju smiled and agreed. That day, they shared the ripe mangoes with their friends and enjoyed the sweetness of kindness together.
Moral: The joy of sharing is sweeter than any fruit.
