Epic Public School successfully hosted Maths, English, and Science Olympiads, fostering academic excellence through competitive learning across multiple age groups.
Epic Public School recently organised three major academic events in Maths, English, and Science Olympiads, known respectively as Mathletics, Englishiad, and Scientia. These competitions were designed to enhance students’ analytical and problem-solving skills while fostering a spirit of healthy competition and intellectual curiosity. The Olympiads provided a platform for students to showcase their knowledge, teamwork, and quick-thinking abilities, encouraging them to prepare for future competitive examinations.
Each Olympiad was divided into two distinct stages – the Preliminary Round and the Main Event. Students were categorised into two age groups: the first comprising Classes 4 and 5, and the second including Classes 6, 7, and 8. This categorisation was to ensure that each participants competed with other from similar academic levels, allowing a balanced contest.
The Preliminary Round was conducted as a written examination that included two sections – a general selection of questions assessing core subject knowledge and a specialised achiever’s section designed to challenge advanced learners. The questions were carefully selected to evaluate students’ conceptual understanding, problem-solving techniques, and ability to apply knowledge in practical situations. This stage acted as a filter to identify the most promising candidates for the next phase of the competition.
Following a rigorous evaluation process, 12 outstanding students were shortlisted from the Preliminary Round across the three Olympiads. These selected participants were then divided into four groups, with each group comprising a balanced mix of students from both age categories. This format encouraged teamwork and collaboration, as students with different strengths and perspectives worked together to tackle the challenges of the Main Event.
The Main Event was structured into three dynamic and engaging rounds, each presenting a unique set of hurdles to test participants’ knowledge, critical thinking, and ability to perform under pressure. The rounds required students to solve complex problems, answer rapid-fire questions, and tackle real-world scenarios related to mathematics, science, and language. This multi-faceted approach ensured that participants were not only assessed on their theoretical knowledge but also on their ability to think creatively and work effectively as a team.
The competition was fierce and exhilarating, with all four groups demonstrating remarkable skill, determination, and teamwork throughout the three rounds. After a closely contested battle, winners and first runners-up were declared for each Olympiad, recognising the exceptional talent and dedication of the participants.
Speaking about the importance of such events, Biswajit Jha, Director of Epic Public School, emphasised the school’s commitment to academic excellence. He remarked, “This is our effort to prepare our students for competitive exams through a contest. We believe that early exposure to such challenges will help our students develop confidence, resilience, and the skills required to excel in future academic pursuits.”
Dr Sanjukta Saha, Principal of Epic Public School, echoed similar sentiments, expressing her enthusiasm for continuing such initiatives in the future. She stated, “This is just the beginning of a process in our school. We plan to organise such events in the future as well, as they play a crucial role in nurturing young minds and preparing them for the ever-evolving academic landscape.”
The Maths, English, and Science Olympiads at Epic Public School were a resounding success, providing students with an enriching and challenging academic experience. The competitions not only celebrated the spirit of learning but also underscored the school’s dedication to fostering intellectual growth and preparing students to face future challenges with confidence and competence.
With the overwhelming positive response from students, parents, and faculty members, Epic Public School plans to make these Olympiads an annual tradition, further strengthening its mission to nurture future scholars and innovators.
