Reaching home, I hugged my mother tight. I had been missing her so much all this while, and now that I felt the warmth of her love, I refused to let her go. Why did I miss her? Well, let me tell you from the beginning.
I am Kikitara, Kikitara Dhar, a student of standard two at Epic Public School, Cooch Behar. As the schools closed for our winter vacation, a trip was planned to travel to Guwahati, the capital city of Assam.
Finally, as the day arrived, we reached the station. By ‘we’ I mean myself, my father, uncle, aunt, my grandfather, and my cousin. Unfortunately my mother could not join us on this trip,as she had to take care of my baby brother. As we reached the station we could see the beautiful Vande Bharat nearing the platform. We boarded, and soon the train departed.
Reaching Guwahati, we checked into our hotel, VIVANTA. A classy hotel, I must say, with the interiors, the reception, the lobby, and most importantly, the courtesy of the staff. It felt good, yet somewhere deep down in my heart, I was sad for my mother. It was then I recalled my mother’s words; she said “Kikitara, you are a brave and strong girl, so don’t be sad.” Yes, I shall not cry, I said to myself.
The second day was full of fun. We visited a temple, following which we went to a park, then the zoo, and finally to a fantastic restaurant for lunch. Later, we visited a mall, and that is how the day came to an end.
The next day, we were returning home. We boarded the train, and after a few hours of travel, we reached Cooch Behar. We hopped into the car and reached home around nine in the evening. It was then that I saw my mother. I rushed and hugged her and said, “I did not cry Maa.”
Hearing these words, my mother hugged me back and said “You are my big and brave girl.”
Later, after dinner, I was narrating the trip to my mother and never realised when I fell asleep.
The End
