Join young Sayantani Das from Class V, Epic Public School, as she shares her exciting holiday trip to Siliguri’s Savin Kingdom Water Park. From early morning journeys and surprise plans to wave pools, water slides, and rain dances, this joyful story captures the thrill of spontaneous family trips and sunny splashy fun!
“Yay! I am so happy!” I expressed, and why shouldn’t I, the way sujji mama (The Sun) is showing his tantrums, a splash of water looked divine. Why? What? When? You ask? Well, hold your horses, the story has just begun. Let me start from the very beginning.
It was just an ordinary evening, I was playing with my birds, my mother was reading a book, and my father, well, he was speaking over the phone as he received a phone call. When he finished speaking he informed us that he needed to go to Siliguri for some work. He added, “I really don’t want to go alone, it is so boring, why don’t you all come with me.”
“That sounds great, we can surely come along.” My mother replied.
I was in the other room during this entire conversation and did not have the slightest idea about the plan. When I returned, my mom told me everything. My immediate thought was not quite exciting, as you know how boring these official works are, so I reacted, “But what will we do till the work is being done?” I asked quite concerned by this time, “We’ll get bored!” I added.
My father came up with a solution, he said, “I have a wonderful idea to cure your boredom. I heard from someone that there is a water park in Siliguri. So we can spend a great time there and in this heat, it sounds quite exciting isn’t it?”
Instantly we fetched our phones and checked up a few videos over YouTube of the water park. It looked fascinating, and thus the plans were settled for the visit to Siliguri.
The next step was to pack everything including my father’s official files, some clothes, and of course my swimming costume. Once everything was packed we settled for an early dinner following which we called it a day and went off to sleep.
The next day we started the day in the wee hours as we woke up, perhaps even before the early birds were yet to open their eyes. After checking everything I said, “All right then, everything is done. Looks like we are ready for the trip.” Honestly, I was quite happy and excited.
“We sure are!” replied my mother. After a few last checks, we set out for our journey. There wasn’t anything much to do in the car. So we played some music and chatted happily on the way. You know the usual funny stories.
After a good three hours’ drive, we finally reached our destination, no not the water park, the place where my father had his official work. Don’t you remember that was the main reason for this trip? Well as we reached my father declared, “We’re here! It is time to get down.”
We all got down of the car and headed to the office. My mother and I waited in the guest lounge while my father went to submit the files.
Finally when my father returned. I was half asleep by then, my father saw the bewildered look on my face he smiled and said, “Get up my dear, we going to the Water Park now?”
“Yes, in fact, we are.” Replied my mother waking me up completely.
We went back to the car and started. It was a short drive and as we reached there, I felt the excitement inside me. I couldn’t wait any longer. My father procured tickets while me and my mother proceeded to the bag-checking room. Once that was done, we bought some waterproof, transparent pouches for our phones so that we could take pictures even underwater. My father in the meanwhile went to take the keys for our lockers. He also hired the swimming outfits for him and my mother. And in no time all three of us were ready. After set with swimming outfits, goggles, and cap. We kept our belongings in the locker and went straight to the children’s pool.
I headed straight for the slides! “Yay! I’m so happy!” I shouted happily. There was a huge bucket on top of the children’s pool which poured water every 10 minutes. I got drenched a few times trying to reach the slide.
But you see the children’s pool was too shallow for us! Hence we went to another pool. That looked just perfect for all of us! We had some fun in that pool. My father and I even had a swimming race, I won of course. We clicked some jolly good pictures both above and even under the water.
Finally, my dad decided to go on some big rides. My mother and I decided to skip as we were too scared of such big rides. It was then to my surprise a siren started to blow a horn, “Booommm! Booommm! Booommm!” and I saw everyone run towards the big pool on the other side of the park.
Finding me perplexed my father informed me that it was the ‘Wave Pool’ where everybody was headed. We too went there and found that it was the pool that had huge waves, just like the sea! We jumped to join the fun. Interestingly the deeper we went, the waves kept pushing us to the shore. Fascinating.
Once we were done with the waves, we went to the rain dance section. Music full-on, water everywhere what more does a child want?
As I reached I found that there were some hoops, a gate-like structures from which water was pouring on the inner side. We stayed there for some time.
After a while, my father received a call informing us that the official work was done. So it was time for us to say goodbye to the water park. We went to the changing room to freshen up but then we realised we were all sunburned and tanned. So if you ever visit the water park do not forget to get the sunscreen lotions.
We took everything and went to the office. There my father collected the files, did some signatures and we started our return journey. On the way, we had our lunch and later our dinner as well.
Ah! Now I recall that I have shared the entire journey but I forgot the most important thing – the name of the water park. Well, it is called ‘Savin Kingdom.’
So here I am sharing with you a truly memorable journey, a journey to the Savin Kingdom.
