Anupam Mandal of Class IV, Epic Public School shares the story of Sinjo, a brave merchant who stumbles upon a mysterious island, uncovers hidden treasure, and discovers an ancient map that may lead to more secrets.
Once upon a time, there lived a merchant named Sinjo. One day, he went to the seashore and noticed that the beach was very dirty. He felt he should clean the shore and began cleaning it. But soon, the weather turned cloudy and rainy, and the waves of the sea rose high.
Sinjo decided to take shelter and quickly returned to his house. After a while, the weather turned sunny again. He went back to the seashore. To his surprise, he saw that the beach was clean this time. He was very happy but wondered how it had been cleaned.
He noticed that when the waves came, some shells emerged from the water. He decided to collect the shells and sell them in the market. He gathered as many shells as he could. While collecting them, he found a small piece of diamond. He took the diamond and kept it with him.
Sinjo was so busy collecting shells that he didn’t notice a large wave approaching. The wave reached the shore and swept him away.
When Sinjo woke up, he found himself in a strange land. He looked around and saw white sand all around him. Suddenly, the weather turned rainy again. Sinjo started looking for shelter and found a cave. He quickly ran inside.
Inside the cave, he saw a large old door with a strange-looking lock. Suddenly, he remembered the shape of the diamond he had found on the beach. He took out the diamond and placed it in the keyhole. To his delight, it fit perfectly, and slowly the door opened. Sinjo looked inside and saw a lot of money, gold coins, and diamonds. He was overjoyed.
He took as many coins and diamonds as he could carry and stepped outside. He wondered how he would return home. After a while, he saw a ship. He waved and called out to it. Fortunately, one of the crew members saw him, and soon a boat was sent to rescue him. He boarded the ship and began his voyage back home.

When he met the captain of the ship, he asked, “Captain, do you know about this island where I was stranded?”
“I’m surprised myself. I’ve never seen this island before,” the captain replied, leaving Sinjo shocked and puzzled.
After returning home, Sinjo narrated everything that had happened to him. Everyone decided that he should be taken to the Chief.
After listening to the entire adventure, the Chief decided to reward Sinjo for his bravery. “You have not only done a great job by cleaning the seashore but also shown that you are a courageous man. I will reward you for your bravery.”
The next morning, Sinjo’s name was in the newspapers. He was very happy. From that day on, Sinjo started cleaning the seashore every day.
One day, while Sinjo was cleaning the shore as usual, he suddenly found a box floating in the waves. He rushed to it, picked it up, and carried it home. Inside the box, among other things, Sinjo found an old map. He carefully unfolded the pages and gradually realised that it was a treasure map.
Sinjo was very excited and ran to the seashore, where he saw a strange-looking man. He approached him and asked, “Can you tell me anything about this map?”
But the man replied, “This is not reality, my boy; it’s just your imagination.”
Sinjo was annoyed and thought the man must be insane. “You must have had a rough day. Why don’t you just cool down and relax? You have every right to refuse to tell me anything if you don’t want to,” he said, and moved on.
He went around asking many people about the map, but everyone gave him the same reply.
The next day, he saw a news report about the island. It said that the island was about 1,000 years old and had many mysterious stories associated with it. The government had found an old statue of a pirate. Sinjo was shocked. Could there really be a treasure on that island?
