The Ashapurna Devi Club‘ shares the tale of CID Inspector Rehan Pakrashi who faces a chilling challenge when his wife, Renay, is abducted by a notorious serial killer known as “The King.”
He felt his heart race as fear gripped him. What if the killer had taken Renay? The thought chilled him to the core. He slammed the car door and sped off towards the police station, dialing his colleagues while driving.
“Anirban, it’s Rehan. Renay’s missing, and Shreya heard her scream on the phone just before it cut out! I need every available officer looking for her now!”
“Wait, what? Rehan, are you sure it’s connected to the case?” Anirban’s voice sounded alarmed.
“I don’t know, but the timing is too suspicious! She might be the next target!” Rehan barked, weaving through the traffic as fast as he could.
Anirban didn’t waste a second. “Alright, we’re mobilizing. I’ll track her phone. Stay on the line.”
Rehan’s pulse pounded in his ears as he arrived at the station. His hands were shaking, but his instincts as a CID officer kicked in. Within minutes, a team of officers were out, spreading across Cooch Behar, searching for any trace of Renay.
Anirban called back. “Her phone’s signal was last active near the old factory on the outskirts. But it’s dead now. Could be a trap, Rehan. You need backup.”
Rehan clenched his jaw. “There’s no time. I’ll head there alone.”
“You’ll be walking into the lion’s den!”
“I don’t care. That’s my wife!”
Without waiting for another word, Rehan floored the accelerator, racing towards the abandoned factory. His mind flashed back to the serial killer’s victims, their lifeless faces twisted in bizarre expressions. And that poison — “the elephant’s foot” — a lethal toxin that left no trace but fear.
The old factory loomed ahead, its broken windows like empty eyes staring into the abyss. Rehan parked at a distance, pulling out his gun. The silence was eerie. He crept inside, every step echoing on the cracked concrete floor.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed. It was Anirban again.
“Rehan, we’ve just arrested a suspect from the gang. He…he mentioned something about ‘The Queen’s Game.’ The boss—they call him ‘The King’—is apparently playing a twisted game with you. Be careful.”
Rehan’s heart sank. This serial killer is the mastermind behind the murders. And now, the game involved his wife.
A faint sound came from one of the rooms. Rehan tensed, gripping his gun tighter as he edged towards the door. He could hear muffled sobs.
“Renay…” he whispered under his breath, pushing the door open slowly.
There she was—tied to a chair, tears streaming down her face, but alive. Relief washed over him, but just as he stepped towards her, a voice echoed from the shadows.
“Ah, Inspector Rehan Pakrashi. Right on time.”
Rehan spun around, gun raised. A figure in a black mask emerged from the darkness, a sinister smile playing on his lips. It was him—the King.
“You’ve been quite a nuisance, Inspector,” the masked man said, his voice cold. “But now, it’s time to see how good you really are at saving those you love.”
Rehan’s eyes darted between the masked man and Renay. “Let her go. This is between you and me.”
The King chuckled, walking in slow circles around the room. “Oh, it’s always been about you, Rehan. I’ve been watching you. A perfect little detective, always solving other people’s problems. But can you solve this one?”
Rehan took a step forward, gun aimed directly at the King’s chest. “I’ll shoot you before you can even move.”
“Will you?” The King pulled out a small vial from his coat, holding it up. “This… is the elephant’s tree poison. One drop, and she’ll die in minutes. No pain, no scars. Just death. You can kill me, Rehan, but can you save her?”
Renay gasped, struggling against the ropes. “Rehan! Don’t let him”
“Quiet!” the King snapped. He turned back to Rehan. “Here’s the deal, Inspector. You can either kill me now, but she dies. Or… you can lower your gun, and I’ll give you the antidote. Your choice.”
Rehan’s mind raced. He couldn’t trust this psychopath. But Renay’s life was hanging by a thread. He had to think fast.
The King was enjoying the tension, his eyes gleaming behind the mask. “Tick-tock, Inspector. What’s it going to be?”
Rehan slowly lowered his gun, his mind working furiously. “Alright. Give me the antidote. You win.”
The King smiled triumphantly. “Smart man.”
As the King stepped closer to hand him the vial, Rehan suddenly lunged, knocking the vial from the King’s hand and sending him crashing to the ground. The King let out a growl of rage as he scrambled to his feet, but Rehan was quicker. He kicked the man’s leg, knocking him down again, and aimed his gun at his head.
“Game over,” Rehan hissed.
The King laughed, even as Rehan cuffed him. “Oh, Rehan… this was only the beginning.”
Ignoring the King’s threats, Rehan rushed to Renay, untying her and pulling her into a tight embrace.
“I’m here,” he whispered, holding her close. “It’s over.”
But in his heart, Rehan knew the King was right. This was just the beginning of a larger, darker game. One that he would have to face, sooner or later.
